Single Finger Exercises
One important component of fluid
technique is having efficient motion of each individual finger.
This exercise will work each finger through the full chalumeau
range.
Alternate between the given notes for the
course of one full breath. For each pair of notes, start
slowly, moving smoothly and evenly between the two. Gradually
accelerate until you are alternating between the two notes as
quickly as you can execute accurately. Don’t think of
these as trill exercises! Think of the exchange between the two
notes. In instances where two fingerings are possible (such as
the first pair of notes), do both the left and right sides
separately
