Scale Segments
This is a great alternative way to practice your scales. It also helps troubleshoot particular fingers that give you problems. Part of the beauty of this exercise is that it works the finger patterns for both the chalumeau and clarion registers at the same time!
1. Play through the example below, repeating many times through (in one breath). Start slowly and gradually increase speed until you reach the fastest speed you can maintain with complete evenness and accuracy.

2. Next, play the same notes as if there were one sharp in the key signature. Continue, adding one sharp at a time, through all sharp keys.
3. Do the same exercise with this next set of notes:

5. Now for the flat keys. The exercise is the same as above with the following sets of notes.
